Barna- 100% Wrong

If you don’t know who George Barna, he is a researcher who has been offering statistics about Christianity and the church.  Many church leaders use his numbers in sermons and the like.  Barna differs from many polling organizations in that he seems to understand the difference between denominations and sects within Christianity.  He gets that Evangelicals are different than classic Protestants and Catholics, for example.  Having said that . . .

The ultimate issue in the whole ‘Pelagian’ captivity is ‘what does God say?’  Relative to that, it really doesn’t matter what anyone says or thinks.  ‘Let God be true and every man a liar’ Paul says in Romans.  Amen to that!

So what is the Pelagian captivity of the church?  Well, it’s as old as the church itself, really even older.  It goes all the way back to the Garden, but that is another story.

The title is totally ripped from a R.C. Sproul article of the same name.  But it is so scarily accurate that I had to use it.  What does it mean?  Where does it come from?  Good questions.
